MAILWAY GOES ON GROWING

Thursday 27. August 2009 - The UK’s leading contract packer, Mailway Packaging Solutions has completed the acquisition of Perpack Limited - a Wakefield company that boasts market leading flow-wrapping services.

The deal follows hot on the heels of the Bradford company’s expansion into Scotland and the South of England, and sees Mailway add the UK’s best flowwrapping business to its burgeoning spectrum of contract packing services.

Mailway’s chief executive officer, Richard Bramma said: “Our strategy is to develop into a truly national packaging solutions business and become the first choice for all major brand owners. To do this we need to offer the broadest possible range of packaging capabilities and Perpack’s areas of expertise are ideal additions to our current offering.”

Perpack is the UK leader in supplying flow-wraps in perforated bandoliers for dispensing into bagging and cartonning lines at high speeds. Working primarily in the print and 3-D premium markets, the company has a capacity in excess of 300,000,000 units per annum and its flow-wrapping service incorporates autofeeding, batch counting and collating in-line.

The company also offers vertical form, fill and seal standard and quad bagging with multi-head weighing. This allows for accurate filling from 10g to 2.5kg of loose, solid products such as confectionary, dried fruit, biscuits and pet food. Mailway will also utilise Perpack’s expertise to enable it to bring its three existing sites up to BRC Food Grade A standard – an industry requirement for food filling operations.

Mailway’s commercial director, Steve Whitehouse added: “As well as expanding the scope of our service, this acquisition provides us with the opportunity to sellin our current services to Perpack’s impressive customer base of major UK and European blue chip companies. This is of great importance as many of them are in the food market, which we see as a major growth area with massive opportunities to expand our business”
