PRINTING AND LIGHTWEIGHTING GIVE BOXER CHEMICALS A KNOCK-OUT SOLUTION
Thursday 30. July 2009 - A lightweight printed pail from RPC Containers Oakham - specially developed for the packaging and dispensing of wet wipes - is providing Boxer Chemicals with combined style and convenience for one of its products.
Based in Manchester, Boxer supplies a range of chemical solutions to a wide UK customer base including many local councils. Amongst the products targeted at this sector are Heavy Duty Hand Cleaning Wipes, whose formula specially developed to protect against the risk of Weils Disease. This bacterial infection is commonly transmitted by rats, and Boxers solution is intended to be used by council workers involved in any type of work where they may come into contact with rats.
Boxer has been using pails from RPC Oakham, which incorporate a fitment in the lid for easy dispensing of wipes, for several years. The company recently decided to revamp its brand image by switching from labelled pails to screen printing. “The excellent graphic reproduction ensures an eye-catching visual effect, which enhances our branding so that we can widen the profile and reach of the product to include sales in over-the-counter trade outlets,” explains Alan Daley of Boxer Chemicals.
At the same time, Boxer has been able to take advantage of RPC Oakhams new lightweight 3 litre plastic pail, developed to meet growing demand from the wet wipe market. The redesign recognises that wipes do not require the same level of durability required of RPCs standard pail range, which is commonly used for heavier products such as paint. A substantial amount of the container material (PP) has been removed, offering lighter handling and significantly improved logistical efficiencies during transit. At the same time, the height of the container has been increased to suit the industrys filling and lidding processes, while superior nesting enables the stacking of more units per pallet.
The pail lid, manufactured by sister site RPC Market Rasen, is supplied with a red fitment, colour matched to the shade of red used by Boxer for its branding. A tamper-evident tab on the lid provides further product security.
