RKW AT THE DRINKTEC 2009
Monday 27. July 2009 - Attractive and Secure Packaging Options; New Packaging Reduces Packaging and Recycling Costs
The RKW-Group will present two of its five Strategic Business brands at this years Drinktec in Munich (Hall B4, Stand 108). With the brands RKW ProMotion – Consumer Packaging and RKW ProTrans – Industrial Packaging, RKW will present visitors with carefully matched solutions for the beverage industry with an em-phasis on packaging, protection and transport.
RKW ProMotion – Consumer Packaging: Visually Attractive and Easy to handle
The product program of this business area is manufactured at seven locations; in Germany and also in France, Sweden, Spain, Finland and Vietnam. It includes, for example, the successful multipack beverage shrink films which combine good puncture- and tear-resistance with high transparency and high gloss. These can be printed with complex motives and are primarily used for the packaging of water, beer, milk and soft drinks.
Ultrasonic welding allows fluid (for example, milk), oily or powdery goods to be reliably sealed into FFS tubes. For this purpose, RKW developed a mono-layer polyolefin film.
The numerous specialties to be shown at the Drinktec include, among others, films which are especially easy to remove (Easy-Opening) – a clear benefit in the convenience sector. In addition, the French Business Unit RKW Castelletta, has succeeded in cutting the degradation time of polyethylene packaging to just two years with new biodegradable films, thus offering a viable alternative to recycling or even incineration. And for the labeling of goods, the Group offers different kinds of films e.g. in-mould labels.
The Highlight of the exhibition presentation in Munich will be the new packaging named Grab Pack, which RKW developed together with Hartness International, Inc. in South Carolina, the leading US manufacturer of packaging machines. Grab pack is a cost efficient, envi-ronmentally friendly polyethylene shrink film package with unique marketing, production and distribution benefits.

RKW ProTrans: For Safe Transportation
RKW ProTrans films are the specialists when the objective is to trans-port and store all sorts of goods. RKW manufactures the products at five European locations; three in Germany, one in France and one in Finland.
Apart from multi-ply anti-fusion films, which can also secure instable loads such as PET bottles on palettes, the RKW ProTrans product line also includes heavy shrink films for the glass industry and stretch hoods. With annual growth in Europe of about 20 %, stretch hoods are booming.
