Revolutionary In-line Stitcher Reduces Investment Costs By 80%.
Monday 06. July 2009 - New printing process innovation expands stitching possibilities by going compact.
In the world of newspaper production, papers everywhere have been steadily switching to a compact formatnow, the in-line stitching (stapling) systems are going compact, too. Swedish manufacturer Tolerans recently introduced the SPEEDLINER S60 Compact. The ribbon stitcher is perfect for stitching sections at full production speed. Only half the size of a traditional stitcher, this machine has been specifically designed for printing plants that havent had enough space for a ribbon stitcher before. Jan Melin, CEO at Tolerans, points out that “For some printers, installing an in-line stitcher may require expensive modifications to the press. But now, the S60 Compacts tiny footprint means that printers can save up to 80% on their investment because of little or no folder modification costs.”
Installing the SPEEDLINER S60 Compact is quick and easy: only 100 mm high, it can be placed in almost all known folders without major modifications, saving printers significant amounts of money by not having to lift former boards and move nip or lead rollers. The stitchers low weight makes removing the machine for service and maintenance simpler, too.
The SPEEDLINER S60 Compact is part of Tolerans series of SPEEDLINER stitching systems that have rapidly become the worlds most sold in-line stitchers. They are modular, reliable, easy to install, maintain, and operate.
The SPEEDLINER S60 Compact can run in either straight or skip mode, as it is designed to stitch every second revolution (the stitcher turns two revolutions for every “cut-off”). It is named the S60 because it can stitch up to 60,000 copies per hour in straight production.
