Thunderhead and DocuConsulting Partner to Provide Migration Path for Oracle DocuMerge Customers

Tuesday 09. June 2009 - Partnership to Accelerate Clients’ Transition to an Open Standards-Based Platform for Policy Issuance and Other Multi-Channel Customer Communications

Thunderhead, the leading innovator in document automation and multi-channel customer communications solutions, and DocuConsulting, a premier professional services firm specializing in DocuMaker and DocuMerge technologies, announced today a new partnership designed to help insurers and other clients modernize their systems to support the creation and delivery of personalized customer communications.

The new partnership is initially focused on helping companies who use the Oracle DocuMerge product to make a smooth and rapid transition to an alternate customer communications solution before extended product support ends in April of 2010, as announced by Oracle. Unlike DocuMerge, which is based on outdated and proprietary technology, the Thunderhead NOW platform is 100% based on open standards, such as W3C and ACORD, with a Java Enterprise architecture that enables maximum flexibility and easy integration with other core systems.

In addition, Thunderhead empowers business users to create and maintain forms and other customer communications, which liberates valuable IT resources and enables faster time to market. Thunderhead’s award-winning multi-channel approach also means that clients can dramatically reduce print and postage costs by easily delivering communications to customers through electronic channels, such as email, fax, Web, SMS, RSS or voice.

The DocuConsulting team offers more than 20 years of experience delivering proven policy issuance, correspondence and content management solutions to some of the largest carriers in both the life and property and casualty insurance markets. The team includes several executives and technical architects formerly with Image Sciences, Docucorp and Skywire Software, who offer expertise in DocuMaker, PPS, iPPs/iDocuMaker, DocuManage and DocuMerge. Additionally, DocuConsulting brings innovative methodologies to the partnership to help companies simplify their transition to a new platform.

“Insurance companies using DocuMerge today are facing a large and imminent problem with an application that is at the core of their business. The DocuConsulting-Thunderhead alliance provides an ideal migration path to a modern solution while greatly reducing their cost and risk of deployment,” said Richard Lee, Managing Partner for DocuConsulting. “We can also help them move beyond the limitations of their previous solution to embrace the benefits of open standards.”

“We are delighted to be able to work with a partner like DocuConsulting, which offers such a wealth of domain and technology expertise and which shares our commitment to helping the insurance industry become more efficient to compete in this economy,” said Glen Manchester, CEO of Thunderhead. “Working together, we will be able to quickly move joint customers from their current outdated systems to our modern technology, enabling them to streamline their operations, reduce current dependencies on IT resources, cut costs and better engage with their customers.”
