Intermills Capital acquires Aconda Paper SA

Thursday 09. April 2009 - Intermills Capital SA has obtained Court approval to purchase all of the assets and production units of the Spanish specialty paper manufacturer Aconda Paper SA.

Aconda is a specialty paper mill which is focused on the production of poster, outdoor & indoor adverting, flame retardant, graphical and ecological papers. Aconda offices are located in Sant Cugat, Barcelona (Catalonia-Spain), with the production facility located in Flaçà (Girona), approximately 100 km from Barcelona. The Mill at Flaçà (Girona) has a production capacity of 80.000 metric tonnes with exports accounting for more than 70% of its production. The company employs over 240 staff in Catalonia and is a major contributor to the economy of the region.

Aconda Paper was the first European Paper Mill to obtain a Carbon Neutral certification and is the only Spanish society which has simultaneously the following certifications : ISO 9002 (Processes); ISO 9001 (Adaptation System fo Management of quality) ISO 14001 (Environmental Management); OHSAS 18001 (Management of Prevention of Labour Risks) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
