M&R Introduces Color-Coded Squeegee Holders and Floodbars for Use with Phthalate-Free Ink
Thursday 09. April 2009 - M&R is pleased to announce the addition of color-coded squeegee holders and floodbars to its line of ancillary screen-printing equipment.
Although the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a one-year delay in implementing new rules regarding limits on lead contents and the banning of phthalates in inks used on certain products intended for children age 12 or younger, not all customers are waiting. Some companies already require printers to adhere to the pending CPSC guidelines.
While some screen printers who will be affected by the ban may wait until the last minute to comply, others are taking proactive steps to be ready well in advance of the deadline.
In an attempt to assist in that transition, M&R is introducing a line of anodized color-coded squeegee holders and floodbars to simplify identification and minimize the chance of cross contamination. According to Dave Zimmer, M&Rs Textile Product Manager, “Their distinctive color makes it virtually impossible to confuse them with traditional squeegee holders and floodbars. Although theyre suitable for any situation, our intent is to help screen printers comply with the new regulations by giving them a simple way to keep separate the squeegee holders and floodbars used only with phthalate-free ink.”
According to the CPSC, “The stay will remain in effect until February 10, 2010, at which time a Commission vote will be taken to terminate the stay.”
