Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News Offers Copies for Free at All Retail Locations; One Day Only

Monday 30. March 2009 - Readers to experience newly designed newspapers; more than 500,000 copies distributed

For the first time in history and today only, all copies of the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News sold in more than 18,000 convenience stores, gas stations and other retail locations throughout Michigan will be available for free. More than 500,000 copies of both newspapers will be distributed.

Today’s editions reflect bold new designs that engage readers, and provide more information in at-a-glance formats. Readers will find many new features and content additions every day in both newspapers.

“We believe in great newspapers seven days a week,” said Dave Hunke, CEO of Detroit Media Partnership and Publisher of the Detroit Free Press. “Both the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News have been redesigned with readers’ needs in mind. You will find more local news within these pages quickly and easily and content that no other source in Michigan can provide,” Hunke said.
