TPM Media Launches In-House Ad Sales Business, Hires Advertising Executive Diane Rinaldo
Tuesday 10. March 2009 - Talking Points Memo's parent company has launched an in-house advertising business, redesigning the site and hiring a veteran advertising sales executive.
TPM Media LLC, parent of popular political news site Talking Points Memo, has launched its first in-house advertising sales business, including a site redesign and the creation of a sales team to be led by seasoned online advertising executive Diane Rinaldo. Rinaldo will be Vice President of Sales.
“Diane Rinaldo brings years of experience and strategic insight to our direct advertising business,” said founder and editor Joshua Micah Marshall. “We’re excited to welcome her to our growing team.”
With the site redesign, launched at the end of February, premium advertisements are now prominently displayed above the fold on every page. “TPM has always offered marketers a great environment for reaching our influential readers. We’re now offering advertising options with more visibility and impact, including custom sponsorships. With the expansion of our video content and advertising later this year we will offer a full suite of tools for engaging our valuable readers,” added Marshall.
Rinaldo joins TPM from Yahoo! Inc where she was director of the political advertising unit, working with political campaigns, DC ad agencies and the political committees, and led Yahoo! to a dominant position in display advertising. Prior to that Rinaldo was Managing Director of the Category team at Yahoo! responsible for the development of retail advertising for the company’s search business. Ms. Rinaldo brings nearly 12 years of digital advertising experience to TPM, having opened Microsoft’s first East Coast sales office for MSN prior to joining Yahoo!. She is based in New York City.
