MetalFX Celebrates Creativity in the Print Industry
Wednesday 14. January 2009 - MetalFX Technology, the company behind the leading metallic software and ink printing solutions, announces the winners of its prestigious MetalFX Award competition.
The annual MetalFX Awards celebrate the creative achievements of users of MetalFX technology from around the world.
“Year after year, the amount of entries we receive from MetalFX licensed printers, repro houses, design agencies and educational facilities is staggering,” says Jim Walker, Business Manager, MetalFX Technology. “Entrants continue to find new and innovative ways to take advantage of the unique metallic printing characteristics of the MetalFX process. The standard of work is exceptional, and its such a pleasure to be able to showcase these fantastic examples of creativity and promote the entrants capabilities to the rest of the industry.”
Judges of the awards follow a strict criteria but the winning entries are ultimately those that stand out from the competition for quality and creativity, while also meeting all MetalFX specifications for ink densities and colour control. All the entrants must indicate a strong understanding of how to use the technology and demonstrate an ability to apply it in such a way that it enhances the product to fulfil the creative brief.
Walker continues, “When using MetalFX technology, it is essential that the application has had thorough consideration during the design and repro process to ensure the best possible results. Designers and printers will often experiment with the capabilities of the technology at these stages, exploring the full range of MetalFX and SpecialFX solutions, to create a final product that has the wow-factor their clients are looking for.”
The winning entries are as follows:
Printer of the Year – Spectrum Press (Singapore)
Prepress Company of the Year – PHMedia (UK)
Designer of the Year – Alive Pro Studios Inc. (Canada)
Best use of MetalFX in Education – Middlesborough College
Regrettably, the MetalFX Awards 2008 will be the last of its kind, due to MetalFX ceasing to trade as of the 19th December 2008.
Walker concludes, “The sad decision to close MetalFX was made by parent company Ciba Coating Effects last year. Although, the closure is an unfortunate loss to the print and creative markets, we are pleased to be able to bid farewell to the industry on such a positive note. Congratulations to the winners of this years competition and we hope that everyone continues to produce similarly outstanding work using techniques developed by MetalFX.”
