Innovative New Show Floor Attractions, Cutting-Edge Conference Content and Product Debuts Launch Macworld Conference & Expo 2009
Monday 05. January 2009 - Macworld Conference & Expo will open its doors next week at San Franciscos Moscone Center, bringing together creative professionals, IT managers, small business owners, hobbyists and Mac enthusiasts from across the globe for five days of face-to-face education, entertainment and immersion in the Mac community.
In addition, for the first time Macworld will feature a Town Hall meeting, open to all attendees interested in helping to shape Macworld in 2010 and beyond. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 5 PM PT in Moscones Gateway Ballroom, room 102. Macworld Conference & Expo takes please January 5-9, 2009 in the North and South Halls of the Moscone Center.
This year, several thousand people will participate in the Macworld conference program, which boasts more than 140 educational sessions, workshops and hands-on labs for all skill levels taught by more than 200 renowned industry experts. Tracks include: Power Tools, a 2-day in-depth training on popular Mac software applications and tools; Users Conference with presentations designed to sharpen skills and provide instruction on how to work most effectively on the Mac; MacLabs, which offer intimate, hands-on instruction for specific applications and tools; Market Symposiums, full-day sessions targeting specific verticals and/or job functions, including educators and new media artists; Creative Safari workshops to hone creative digital photography and digital video skills; and the MacIT Conference, which provides the most in-depth training for enterprise and IT professionals who work in installations running Mac client and server products.
The Macworld show floor will also feature hundreds of companies driving the next wave of development and innovation on the Mac platform. Many of these exhibitors use Macworld to announce their latest product and service offerings, as well as other breaking news relevant to the industry. NEW! MacworldPULSE: Macworld is introducing a new Market Symposium to its agenda that presents attendees with an opportunity to hear from the great thinkers that shape our world. MacworldPULSE plays host to some of the most astute and visionary thinkers in the technology industry. Developers who design elegant products that are fun to use and productivity enhancing, artists whose mastery of stunning tools create beautiful works that enhance our lifes aesthetic, industry analysts who dissect and explain the daily happenings that affect our purchasing decisions – all will be participating and contributing to this unique day of observation and exchange. Fans and followers trust their perspective, now attendees can hear from them first hand.
New Mac User Programs: Renowned for its broad array of subject matter and lively in-depth sessions, the Users Conference provides expertise on diverse topics for everyone from new Mac users to the savviest veterans. This year, Macworld is focused on supporting those new to the Mac platform. Programs include: the Macworld Learning Center, which offers free training for new Mac users; the “The Ultimate Mac Starter Class” Supersession, a fast-paced course where attendees will learn the essentials needed to get up to speed quickly and get productive with their first Mac; and the New User Resource Center, a special area in the North Hall dedicated to all who are new to Macworld and the Mac platform. Experts from the Apple Consultants Network will be on hand to answer questions and provide expert advice, while members from Apple User Groups will be available to give custom tours of the expo floor.
Feature Presentations: David Pogue, New York Times technology columnist and Mac industry luminary, and Leo Laporte, acclaimed XM Satellite Radio show host, Internet media celebrity, host of The Week in Tech (TWit) and co-host of popular podcast Mac Break Weekly, are the featured presenters for this years event. Additional presentations include the Macworld Best of Show 2009 presented by Macworld magazine. Feature Presentations are open to all registered attendees.
“MacHEADS The Movie” Premier: Chimp 65 productions will debut its documentary film “MacHEADS The Movie” at the 2009 Macworld Conference & Expo. The movie will show on Wednesday, January 8 from 6:15-7:15 pm in room 134 in the North Hall of the Moscone Center. MacHEADS is an in-depth examination of what makes the Mac, the iPhone, and all Apple products in general a cultural phenomena rather than just consumer electronics, and explores the extraordinary loyalty to Apple products by their followers, as well as their obsession with those products.
The Macworld Music Studio: In collaboration with Berklee College of Music, Macworld is pleased to present the Macworld Music Studio. This expanded show floor attraction will be filled with instruction, demonstrations, performances and training on how to use the Mac to bring musical visions to life. The Macworld Music Studio will feature performances and demonstrations led by Berklee College of Music faculty, professional musicians, studio engineers and other music experts, including highly acclaimed Macworld Magazine columnist and renowned industry personality Jim Dalrymple who will lead a session entitled, “You, Your Mac, A Guitar and Apples Main stage.”
Digital Art Gallery: Macworld is excited to announce the return of the Digital Art Gallery where attendees will have the opportunity to see original works of art created or enhanced by digital artists using Mac hardware and software tools. The Digital Art Gallery will be located in the concourse area between the North and South Halls of the Moscone Center.
The John Lennon Bus: The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is non-profit multimedia studio dedicated to providing free opportunities to create original music, video and still photo projects. Short, 45-minute courses will integrate content produced on the Lennon Tour Bus with hands-on learning experiences provided by Digital Media Academy. Topics will include Final Cut Studio, Logic, Adobe After Effects and more.
