ASK diversifies products portfolio with CoreLam
Wednesday 07. January 2009 - ASK launches at Cartes show Corelam, a new product range of prelaminated inlays for contactless smart cards. Designed to be the core of the contactless cards required by the banking and the identity markets, CoreLam is based on the ASK unique technology of silver antenna and die chip process, a field proven technology with more than 120 million users worldwide.
CoreLam can be integrated into various finished products, such as PVC, PET, PETF or polycarbonate. It offers a reliable solution to identity market needs (eID cards, driver licenses, health cards, electronic passports
) based on Teslin or polycarbonate whereas the banking sector can benefit from antennas compatible with embossing. Thanks to composite assemblies, an exceptional mechanical resistance can be achieved, with the capability of withstanding up to 100,000 ISO bending cycles, making CoreLam as the perfect inlay for long lasting cards.
CoreLam is available in different formats, from 25 positions (5×5) per format up to 40 positions (4×10). It allows smart card manufacturers to produce different end products from the same raw material. Furthermore, ASK inlays are fully compliant with any equipment able to laminate and die cut smart cards, limiting any modification of an existing manufacturing process almost to none. CoreLam is already qualified with several HF and UHF chips, providing the opportunity for a wide range of contactless end products.
“Specific markets such as the identity and banking sectors require end products manufacturing in the clients country, for national security reasons. With CoreLam, ASK offers its local partners the opportunity to benefit from the companys expertise in contactless technology and its experience in end products manufacturing”, says Fabien Guichon, Head of the ASK Identity Business Line.
The ASK CoreLam product range enables our clients for a smooth upgrade in the future of contactless and its new applications: banking cards, ID cards, electronic passports and multi-application cards.
