Bibica invests with Baker Perkins
Wednesday 07. January 2009 - New confectionery plant in Vietnam
A leading Vietnamese food company is expanding by installing a Baker Perkins confectionery cooking and depositing plant. Bibica Corporation, based in Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the largest candy manufacturers in Vietnam: this latest project adds the ability to make new ranges of high-quality one and two-colour milk, striped and centre-filled hard candy.
Bibica Corporation currently produces high quality hard and soft candies. starch syrup, chocolates and cake for both home and export markets. It also manufactures biscuits and cookies on production lines supplied by Baker Perkins from the UK and the USA.
Depositing was chosen for this latest phase of expansion because of its superior product quality and lower production costs compared with traditional methods such as die forming.
Enhanced appearance, high clarity, and rapid flavour release with a smooth mouth feel are key benefits of deposited confectionery: with over 450 lines in operation, Baker Perkins is the world’s leading manufacturer of depositing systems.
Baker Perkins and their Asian agents, Johs Rieckermann, collaborated in providing Bibica with a plant specified to match their end product and output needs.
Baker Perkins regional sales manager Mark Sheffield says, “For Bibica, it was vital to work with a supplier that could provide process technology, product expertise and training, as well as high quality equipment.
“Baker Perkins secured the order because we were the only supplier able to give them complete confidence in our ability to support them at every step”.
Baker Perkins hosted visitors from Bibica for a 10-day training, trials and inspection programme of the new depositing line before shipping for installation and commissioning by Baker Perkins engineers.

The complete Baker Perkins cooking and depositing system includes a MicrofilmTM cooker and ServoFormTM depositor. The Microfilm cooker is regarded as the industry standard for high boiled candies, butterscotch and milk and cream candies. It is also widely used for low boilings such as caramels, toffees and fudges, as well as high-solids jellies, fruit snacks and gums.
The ServoForm depositor range produces high-quality, multi-colour and multi-component hard and soft candies, including lollipops, in one, two, three and four colours, in stripes, layers and random patterns.
