ErgoSoft announces DFA Collaboration with HP and Nikon

Monday 29. December 2008 - ErgoSoft, a leader in RIP software for digital fine art and photography printing, announces the new Digital Fine Art (DFA) Collaboration with industry-leading manufactures of digital printers and SLR cameras, HP and Nikon.

The purpose of this DFA Collaboration is to meet the requirements for reproduction of original fine art for museums, galleries, and ateliers. The complete system consists of the new HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer, the Nikon SLR D3 or D3x camera, and ErgoSoft StudioPrint v.2008 DFA Edition powered by HP Artist Software.

The DFA Collaboration from HP, Nikon, and ErgoSoft will enable a simplified workflow for fine art reproduction. The workflow begins with the image capture – or input – using the Nikon D3 camera and completes with printing – output – using the new HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer. Between the capture and print, the images are processed using the ErgoSoft StudioPrint v.2008 DFA Edition. By combining the HP, Nikon, and ErgoSoft technologies, users can faithfully and effortlessly achieve professional digital fine art reproductions.

Unique to the DFA Edition of ErgoSoft StudioPrint v.2008 is HP Artist Software, which enables a simple, linear workflow for reproducing fine art on the new HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer. The software uses predefined camera and custom lighting configurations created by the photographer by measuring the ambient light and cast light. These configurations automatically correct the non-uniformities in lighting conditions. The system also optimizes the color for printing on the HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer. By sampling multiple points – as many as 50 or more – within the original work of art users can also create a master color library for each individual work, further ensuring accurate color enhancement and faithful reproduction at print time.

A powerful application for accurate color reproduction, ErgoSoft StudioPrint v.2008 DFA Edition also has several production features to maximize media usage and time. Once ready for output, images may be scaled, rotated, and tiled in a fraction of the time of other desktop publishing applications. Images may also be precisely placed with defined borders and duplicated in multiple maximizing page coverage. User-defined border colors, text, and cut marks are automatically added as needed as well as border extensions for gallery-wrap for canvas prints that mirror the image itself allowing for the entire image to in view rather than partially out of sight.

More science than art, the DFA Collaboration provides the tools and workflow to make fine art reproduction predictable and repeatable. Using objective measurements of light and color, images are quickly processed rather than endlessly finessed to achieve a sellable result in the shortest amount of time, reducing the total production time from hours to minutes. Unlike other capture and print methodologies that do not communicate, The DFA Collaboration combines unparalleled ease-of-use and low-cost-of-entry with a high degree of accuracy and quality to create a highly profitable system to own and operate.
