CeWe Color supports German Maritime Search and Rescue Service
Friday 28. November 2008 - CeWe Color is setting an example of its social responsibility by supporting the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). In addition to a donation, Europe's leading photofinishing company is also giving the life- savers valuable help in kind in the form of free CEWE PHOTO BOOKS documenting the work of the DGzRS in emotional photos.
In a fitting setting on the maritime rescue cruiser VORMANN STEFFENS, a remarkable fund- raising campaign was organised by CeWe Color for the benefit of the sea rescuers in German Hooksiel/Wangerland last Wednesday, 19 November 2008. Hella Hahm, CeWe Color press spokeswoman, handed over a check for l,000 euros to DGzRS Managing Director Dr. Bernd Anders, Hans-Joachim Katenkamp, Head of the Nordwest Information Centre and leader Dirk Lindemann.
It becomes clear just how vital such donations are when one considers that the DGzRS has always been financed solely by donations. The service has undertaken to save people in distress at sea off the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts of Germany – and has been doing so around the clock every day since 1865. At present more than 61 maritime rescue cruisers and lifeboats are stationed in German ports, ready to help at any time. In the first ten months of this year alone, DGzRS crews saved 991 people who were in distress at sea or found themselves in a dangerous situation. During this period the service set out to sea 1,939 times.
CeWe Color has now undertaken to adequately support this reputable service. The Oldenburg company provides the DGzRS with professional CEWE PHOTO BOOKS containing impressive documentations of the activities of the sea rescuers. The books are mainly intended for sponsors helping to save life at sea with their support.
CeWe Color company founder Senator h.c. Heinz Neumüller already had close ties with the sea rescuers during his time as commander of a submarine with the German Marines. He supported the work of the rescuers as a private donor for many years. It is thanks to his personal commitment to seafaring and the sense of social responsibility of CeWe Color that contact to the DGzRS is still maintained today. CeWe Color also intends to use the impressive illustrated books in its marketing activities for the CEWE PHOTO BOOK, thus making the DGzRS better known. The idea is also to show just how diversely CEWE PHOTO BOOKS can be used today.
