New Mohawk Options with i-Tone Formulated for HP Indigo Printing
Thursday 13. November 2008 - Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. [Graph Expo Booth #1371] opens its highly successful Mohawk Options product line to an expanded digital printing customer base with the addition of New Mohawk Options 100% PC White with i-Tone, formulated for HP Indigo presses.
These new Mohawk Options line extensions target the needs of digital printers with papers that are both environmental and high performance. FSC-certified Options 100% PC White with i-Tone incorporates Mohawks proprietary i-Tone surface for peak performance on the entire family of HP Indigo presses. In addition, this product will be offered in a range of basis weights from 80 text/118gsm through a new range of heavy cover weights including 130 double-thick cover/352gsm, which has a caliper of 15.
“Todays printers are selling more high-quality, short-run color from their HP Indigo presses. In fact, HP reported its HP Indigo year-over-year impressions grew by 40%,” says Chris Harrold, Vice President Market Development, Emerging Print Technologies, Mohawk Fine Papers.
“Mohawk Options has become the industrys gold standard for high-performance, environmental paper among graphic designers and commercial printers, and its incredible success, paired with a growing base of printers buying digital presses, has created demand for a digital offering in the Options line,” says Harrold.
The most diverse product line manufactured with Mohawks exclusive Inxwell process, Options features unusually high ink holdout and exceptional opacity. The Options line gives designers and printers a complete range of choices in compatible colors and finishes as well as several recycled alternatives, and matching envelopes. Four-color photos reproduce precisely for vivid images with clean highlights, great contrast and virtually no show-through, and Mohawk Options performs beautifully on press and in the bindery.
Mohawk Options 100% PCW was the first 100% postconsumer recycled paper to receive certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). And, as one of Mohawks first papers to have 100% of the electricity used for its manufacture offset with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from non-polluting windpower projects, Mohawk Options 100% PCW papers not only raised U.S. industry standards but catapulted awareness levels of corporate sustainability issues to a new market.
