Sun Media names Patrick Lauzon Executive Vice-President, Online, New Business
Tuesday 04. November 2008 - The President and CEO of Sun Media, Michael Sifton, announced today the appointment of Patrick Lauzon to the new position of Executive Vice-President, Online and New Business Initiatives.
“Patrick Lauzon’s successes at our sister company, Canoe.ca, and his extensive experience in sales, marketing and strategic vision strengthen considerably our commitment to remain at the forefront of the media industry as it evolves to continue to connect and build better communities,” said Mr. Sifton.
Said Mr. Lauzon: “Sun Media’s strong, continuing relationships with readers, advertisers and communities across Canada, plus its rapid adoption of new media techniques, are powerful foundations for the future. I have an exciting opportunity to shape continuing successes in an area that has such broad scope and a special importance to our society.”
Mr. Lauzon joins Sun Media’s senior leadership team on Nov. 1, reporting directly to Mr. Sifton.
“The creation of this senior position within our leadership team and the recruiting of such an experienced executive demonstrate Sun Media’s determination to continue to work effectively with advertisers and communities in print, online and new communications platforms,” said Mr. Sifton.
With more than 13 years experience in sales, marketing and strategic relationships, Mr. Lauzon has a record of success with a particular accent on new media and the Internet. As Executive Vice-President of Canoe.ca, a sister company of Sun Media within Quebecor Media Inc., Mr. Lauzon has worked closely with Sun Media to support online development for the newspapers and for Canoe.ca, magazines and TV.
Mr. Lauzon is a past chairman of Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada and is a member of the board and mentor for several technology-based enterprises. In May this year he was selected as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40(tm), the national award program that recognizes leadership, innovation, achievement, community involvement and strategy for growth.
