The Press-Enterprise Takes Several Firsts at 2008 CNPA Contest
Monday 03. November 2008 - Continuing its tradition of excellence, The Press-Enterprise was recognized for achievements in journalism at the California Newspaper Publishers Association's 2008 Best Newspapers Contest, presented Oct. 25 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, Calif.
The Press-Enterprise, Inland Southern California’s leading source of local news and information, took top honors with a first place in the Daily General Excellence category.
Included among the comments made by the Blue Ribbon Judges about The Press-Enterprise: “This newspaper had substantial local reporting. … Able to get up for the big story and sustain commitment. … Good variety and energy throughout the paper. … Excellent photos and graphics. Excellent work!”
The Press-Enterprise also won first place in the categories of Local News Coverage, Business/Financial Story, Environmental/Ag Resource Reporting and Breaking News Photo.
The Press-Enterprise took second place in the categories of Sports Story, Photo Essay, Special Issue and Illustration/Info Graphic.

The awards were announced during the CNPA’s 2008 Press Summit: Embracing Radical Change.
