Givex Recycling Old Gift Cards to Make New
Friday 24. October 2008 - Givex, a global provider of closed loop card technologies including gift, loyalty and other stored value programs, announced today its new gift card recycling program in partnership with Allcard Ltd. Under this program, old gift cards will be rendered into raw material for new gift cards.
Most gift cards are made of non- biodegradable plastics such as PVC and end up in landfills when their value is depleted. Givex and Allcard will be diverting these cards from the dumpster and grinding them down to manufacture brand new gift cards that contain up to 50% recycled PVC.
“We will be kicking off the program by recycling half a million client gift cards,” says Karen Budahazy, Executive Vice President, Givex. “Cards that are 50% recycled material are definitely a step towards greater sustainability, reducing the need for new PVC in gift card production. There has been great interest in this project and I’m very pleased that Givex can provide this service to our clients.”
All Givex clients are encouraged to contact their Givex Account Manager to participate in this program. Clients can show their support by arranging for the recycling of their depleted cards and/or ordering cards made from up to 50% recycled PVC.
