PWGSC: Printing Contract Awarded to Montreal-Based Company
Monday 01. September 2008 - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada and Secretary of State (Agriculture), today announced the awarding of a $12.3 million contract for the printing of documents for the next census in 2011 to Transcontinental Inc. of Montreal, Quebec.
“The contract awarded to Transcontinental demonstrates our Government’s commitment to ensuring best value for Canadians while investing in Canadian companies,” said Minister Paradis.
The contract was awarded following a competitive procurement process and will run for three years, ending in 2011. Under the contract, Transcontinental will print the questionnaires and letters to be sent to Canadian households for the 2011 census.
“Transcontinental is proud to be printing the 2011 Census,” said Guy Manuel, President, Marketing Products and Services Sector, Transcontinental Printing. “We will deliver the highest level of printed product to Statistics Canada from our facilities based in Quebec and Ontario.”
Public Works and Government Services Canada awarded the contract on behalf of Statistics Canada, which will be conducting the census.
