Dr. Claudio Abreu to Lead New Bayer Business and Technology Services Organization

Wednesday 06. August 2008 - Bayer announced today that Dr. Claudio Abreu will become President and CEO of Bayer Business and Technology Services (BBTS) LLC effective October 1, 2008, in addition to his current responsibilities as Head of Bayer Business Services in North America and Global Head of IT Operations. Prior to this position, Dr. Abreu, a veteran of 18 years with the Bayer Group, was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Bayer Corporation.

BBTS, based in Pittsburgh, is a joint US-organization comprised of the two Bayer service groups Bayer Business Services (BBS) and Bayer Technology Services (BTS), both headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany. The new US-organization includes the following service functions: information technology; the shared services functions of human resources (HR//direct — Pittsburgh); business consulting; procurement; finance and accounting services; and engineering and site services.

The service functions that currently operate within the U.S. legal entity Bayer Corporate and Business Services LLC will transition to the new U.S. legal entity BBTS LLC, effective October 1.
