Low-temperature sealing BOPP films

New films in Wipak’s Walothen range offer an alternative to conventional coated films. Walothen C 25 XLS E is uncoated and is capable of sealing at a temperature as low as 65° Celsius. The key benefit for producers and packers is that temperature-sensitive products such as chocolate or bakery products can be packed economically and, above all, with a low environmental impact.

The low-temperature sealing BOPP grades increase productivity during the packing process. Packers can reduce costs and increase their output as secondary packaging (such as a carton) is no longer required and the packing equipment can run at higher speeds. Thanks to the low seal initiation temperature from around 65° Celsius – i.e. so low that it could be generated simply by rubbing your hands together – the film is ideal for packaging temperature-sensitive products such as chocolate, bakery products and pasta. Direct bundle wrapping for collating prepacked items like cigarette packs or CD cases is another field of application. Sealing at a low temperature prevents the individual wrapping films (single wrap films) from sticking to the multipack overwrap film (bundle wrap film).

The film’s outstanding optical/visual properties such as clarity and gloss are the result of orientation in both transverse and longitudinal direction. Walothen C 25 XLS E has a thickness of 25 microns. It is corona treated and therefore suitable for printing and laminating.
