PowerID Announces the Establishment of European Offices

Monday 05. May 2008 - Appoints Fred de Haas Director of Sales, Europe

PowerID Ltd., the industry leader in battery-assisted, passive (BAP) RFID technology, announced today the opening of its new European offices in The Netherlands, and the appointment of Fred de Haas as Director of Sales, Europe.

In line with PowerID’s go-to-market strategy and expansion of North American activities announced in November 2007, PowerID will now be able to serve the European market from its offices located outside of Amsterdam. With continued interest from its established customer-base in Europe as well as an influx of inquiries from VARs and end-users following the general availability of the Gen2 label, PowerID is now well-positioned to address the needs of the local market in a timely manner.

Mr. de Haas has over 25 years of experience in sales of radio frequency technologies. Prior to joining PowerID, he served as Checkpoint Systems’s Business Development Director, Apparel in Europe and most recently as Managing Director, Benelux. Under his leadership, Mr. de Haas was responsible for the first RFID trial at GERRY WEBER International AG, a Germany-based global operating fashion and lifestyle company.

Previously, Mr. de Haas held the position of Managing Director, the Netherlands, for Sensormatic, which was acquired by ADT.

“The opening of our new European offices and the appointment of Fred de Haas are in line with our strategic plan,” said Lior Rapaport, PowerID’s Vice President, Sales. “We wanted offices that were centrally located within Europe and a highly regarded professional to direct European sales. After an extensive search, we’re extremely pleased to have Fred de Haas join the PowerID team. He brings with him a longstanding record of success based on his extensive experience and expertise in the RF arena.”

Mr. de Haas has extensive sales experience throughout Europe and has resided in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. In addition, he has served as the Treasurer for the Dutch Packaging Institute, as a member of the Standardization Committee for RFID for the Apparel Industry, and as a member of the Belgium/Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. He holds a BA in Commercial Economics from the Hogeschool in Hoorn.

“Based on my many years of experience in the RF field, it’s obvious that PowerID’s unique Battery-Assisted, Passive RFID technology is the answer for select applications,” commented Fred de Haas. “The opportunities are tremendous, and I look forward to enabling customers to finally realize the benefits of RFID.”
