Schreiner ProSecure Presents Highlights of Innovation

Thursday 01. May 2008 - At Interpack 2008, three divisions of Schreiner Group based in Oberschleissheim near Munich - MediPharm, ProSecure and LogiData - demonstrate how customized innovation leads to better solutions in packaging technology.

The experts from ProSecure develop self-adhesive functional labels and marking solutions for authentication, anti-tampering and tracking & tracing of products along the value chain. The wealth of professional and market know-how available at Schreiner ProSecure, combined with the special expertise of the Group’s other divisions, spawns innovative developments and joint projects that set new standards.

Online Authentication
One of the highlights of ProSecure’s innovations is the KeySecure authentication system. This technology based on a 15-digit encrypted code, enables brand owners as well as consumers to perform online product authentications anywhere in the world. The process is simple: the individual number combination is entered on a website and – a mouseclick later – the KeySecure system confirms that the product is an original, or indicates that it is a fake. Schreiner ProSecure produces customized labels for the KeySecure system and operates the high-security data center where the numerical codes are generated and authenticated. In addition to product authentication, the comprehensive KeySecure concept allows manufacturers to track the distribution channels of their products via the web-based queries. Last but not least, the online contact established between the manufacturer and the consumer performing the authentication opens up completely new opportunities for marketing activities.

SecuTech: Definitely an Original
Additional authentications are enabled by the new SecuTech logistics seal, an innovative sample seal which Schreiner ProSecure has equipped with state-of-the- art anti-counterfeiting technology to make the authentication of products and packaging as easy as possible for resellers, customs officials and end-users. The SecuTech seal has a combination of various overt and covert security features, including an individual, holographic, optically variable device, color-shifting and thermo-reactive inks as well as the 15-digit KeySecure Code. The code is also printed on a detachable documentation label, which is part of the seal. When this label is applied to an invoice, for example, the product can be authenticated on the internet at any point in time, even when the product or packaging is no longer in use.

Tailor-made Closure Seals
Whether in the pharmaceutical industry, mechanical engineering or other sectors, the protection of high-end branded products from tampering and counterfeiting requires reliable closure seals for product packs. As the variety of packaging materials is as extensive as the range of products requiring protection, Schreiner ProSecure develops closure seals tailored exactly to the customer’s specific needs. These developments incorporate the most suitable features for the project from the company’s array of proprietary security technologies for tamper evidence as well as anti-tampering and anti-counterfeiting protection. Examples are closure seals with pull-tabs, re-sealable systems, seals which can be printed with variable data, and seals with convenient perforations. The breadth and depth of this portfolio is unique.

ProAuthent: Committed to Authenticity Protection
Product piracy poses a threat to all nations. To limit economic risks for businesses and health risks for consumers, increasingly effective anti-tampering and anti-counterfeiting solutions have to be developed. This is the objective of ProAuthent, a project supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In conjunction with the Munich Technical University (TU München) and leading manufacturers from the machinery and equipment sector, Schreiner ProSecure develops new authenticity protection solutions under the auspices of this project. The research is primarily focused on innovative identification and authentication technologies as well as IT-based solutions for product tracking and tracing. One of the project’s objectives is the evolution of a preventative protection system that reliably stops machine and equipment components and spare parts from being taken into operation.
