Wednesday 30. April 2008 - Seiko Epson Corp. (Epson) today announced an extraordinary loss on a write-down of shares in a subsidiary company in its non-consolidated earnings for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008.

1. Background to the write-down of shares
Due to the worsening financial situation at a domestic subsidiary company, Epson recorded an extraordinary loss of 17,233 million yen in its non-consolidated earnings for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008.
