QUALITY CONTROL in sheetfed printing

Friday 04. April 2008 - NEW: the FAG-SpectraScan launches at drupa 2008

Automatic image control systems are a must for quality printers with a demanding clientele.

Besides camera-based quality control systems for sheetfed printing, FAG Graphic Systems of Switzerland now also offers solutions for inline densitometrical color control.
The new FAG SpectraScan is based on the same measuring technology known from hand-held densitometers. And the dimensions of the device are just as small.
The light source, color and polarizing filters, and the sensor are all integrated in the compact measuring head. The device is installed on a crossbar above the sheet transport track and is easy to position. Several measuring heads can be used depending on the requirements.

The FAG SpectraScan is to be shown for the first time at drupa 2008 on a MABEG MSP modular inspection and enhancement line. The printed sheets run through the machine with the short edge leading and a special control strip that is printed across the ink fountain width but can be positioned anywhere on the sheet is scanned. A mark at the beginning of the control strip triggers each individual measurement and always for a different measuring patch. With up to 20 measurements per second, the speed leaves nothing to be desired.
A statistic mode is available as an option which produces quality logs and carries out analyses.
This total control system avoids faulty products being delivered (with all the costs and strife this entails) and ensures sustained customer loyalty.

The new FAG SpectraScan will be demonstrated at drupa 2008 on the joint stand of the affiliated companies MABEG and FAG in Hall 9/A 21. All those interested in learning more about the system should contact FAG to arrange for a demonstration at the show:
