Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced two new additions to its imagePRESS range – the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP with powerful workflow control and impressive in-line finishing – due to start shipping to customers across Europe from April 1, 2008.

The imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP extend Canon’s high volume digital production colour range, and comprise the same revolutionary imagePRESS technologies, including the new V-Toner, T-Developer and E-Drum – in conjunction with an Advanced Image Transfer Belt, and an oil-less Twin Fusing system – to deliver exceptional print quality that is complementary to offset printing. The robust engine design, coupled with advanced image control and colour management tools consistently deliver outstanding print quality. Both new imagePRESS engines are available with several powerful server options, capable of handling the most complex of jobs – comprising static or variable data with consummate ease.

Mark Lawn, European Marketing Manager, Professional Solutions Strategic Marketing, Canon Europe, said: “Building upon the success of the imagePRESS C7000VP, which to date has seen Canon ship in excess of 300 units, the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP provides more of the digital print market access to the benchmark imagePRESS range from Canon – allowing our customers to benefit from class leading quality and productivity. The new imagePRESS models are also key elements in our drive to develop complete solutions and to increase our share of the digital colour production market. Feedback from our customers has been very positive and they are telling us that the imagePRESS brand has already become synonymous with the highest standards of digital printing and finishing.”

Eirik Andersen, LOS Grafisk, Norway, agrees: “Canon is part of the business – they work with us to improve our workflow, our products, everything. They help us make money.”

Gerald Slot, Managing Director, MultiCopy, Netherlands, said: “Both the C7000VP and C1 have met all our expectations, printing 300gsm stocks at 70 pages per minute and handling a wide variety of coated and uncoated papers and special media. As for the quality, it matches offset and sometimes exceeds it.”

Aimed primarily at the corporate print room and Print-for-Pay market, the imagePRESS C6000 delivers quality prints with resolutions of 1,200dpi with 256 graduations at rated speed of 60 colour impressions-per-minute onto paper stocks up to 135gsm with the ability to print on a wide variety of stocks up to 300gsm.

The imagePRESS C6000VP delivers the same outstanding print quality, with a constant rated speed of 60 colour impressions-per-minute onto paper stocks up to 300gsm. A maximum media supply of 10,000 sheets from up to eight different sources can be configured on the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP devices – potentially delivering over two hours of uninterrupted production printing.

The imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP maintains compatibility with the paper feeding and post-press accessories of the imagePRESS C7000VP, which now includes in-line perfect binding. Designed specifically for the imagePRESS digital press, to help print providers expand their ability to offer value-added services and realise additional revenue opportunities from short-run/on demand book printing, the new Perfect Binder offers very simple operation, making it easy for any print provider to achieve high-quality book or perfect bound document production with minimal intervention.
