First International PDF/A Conference in Amsterdam

Monday 03. March 2008 - The PDF/A Competence Center is holding the first ever international PDF/A Conference, taking place on April 10 - 11th 2008, at the Hilton Hotel, Amsterdam.

The PDF/A Conference is attracting leading PDF/A specialists from around the world to Amsterdam to share knowledge, participate in lectures and listen to keynote speeches from leading specialists – such as Adobe.

The event, which includes an exhibition, has attracted a number of large PDF/A user organisations to this inaugural international event, including the European Patent Office. Participants will benefit from presentations divided into different tracks and selected according to their sector relevance and interest.

According to Harald Grumser, a board member of the PDF/A Competence Center, the event is a must for all those who have to consider the future security of electronic archiving for their documents. “The PDF/A conference offers participants concentrated information for each level of knowledge. The multi-faceted program covers everything. Whether you are looking for basic information or special expertise, if you are a developer or an integrator looking for detailed technical information, if you are in the public administration sector, a bank, an insurance company, industry or a library – this is the event to find the information you need.”

The PDF/A Competence Center has attracted experts such as Leonard Rosenthol, the Technical Standards Evangelist at Adobe Systems, and PDF architect Jim King as well as other PDF/A experts to share their knowledge in the technical track. They will make their contributions to the slots on the first day after the introductory keynote speech by Rory Staunton, Managing Director at Strategy Partners, and the lecture by Stephen Levenson, US District Courts and convener of the ISO PDF/A committee. These are divided into a track for basic information on PDF/A, one for “advanced” participants as well as a technical track for developers, integrators and IT specialists. The second day focuses primarily on practice and is divided into sector tracks for archives/libraries/public administration, engineering/manufacturing/machine construction and finally business-to-customer – such as banks, insurance companies, telecommunications providers, etc.
