Faster, better, easier to use: The new photokina website

Thursday 03. January 2008 - An improved user guidance system, faster loading times and an exciting, contemporary look lend a breath of fresh air to www.photokina-cologne.com

photokina now has a new website, featuring an improved structure that enables users to find the information they are looking for – as quickly as possible and with a minimum of mouse clicks. At www.photokina-cologne.com, a row of tabs at the top of the home page and the clearly structured menu ensures that users – whether they are trade fair visitors, exhibitors or media representatives – will quickly find the information they need, which has been optimally arranged. Clicking on the links in six prominently positioned “info blocks” on the home page, users can go straight to the latest key information. This new user guidance system is complemented by general information on photokina (by clicking on “The Fair”) and a comprehensive exhibitor search function.
By means of the improved user guidance, the site is now more user-friendly and more clearly structured – and far fewer mouse clicks are needed to find the information being sought. With a maximum of three mouse clicks, visitors to the site can find the information they are looking for. In addition, the web site of the photo and imaging fair is more in line than ever before with guidelines for barrier-free web design. Thanks to its frameless page structure, it is now more easily accessible by search engines, which means that the information contained in the site’s many pages can be more readily found by someone using an Internet search engine.
Another new feature of the site is that exhibitors and sponsors can place banners on the photokina web pages, giving them the opportunity to take advantage, during the run-up to photokina, of the high number of “hits” that the site attracts, for an effective and target group-oriented appeal to customers.
In addition to these improvements, the website for the world’s leading trade fair for the photo and imaging industry has also been given a fresher and more contemporary look. photokina’s key visual, for example – the immediately recognizable eye – has been given a more modern visual appeal, and this graphic also clearly reflects the impact that digital technologies are having in the imaging industry.
This latest relaunch is however not the final phase in the development of the web site. In the coming months, the wealth of information and functions at www.photokina-cologne.com will be supplemented with additional features and further optimized to provide the most effective communication of information to exhibitors, visitors and journalists – all with the aim of ensuring that these users can efficiently prepare for the fair.
