French bakery chain La Panire creates decorative noise-cancelling wall panels

Wednesday 28. April 2021 - French bakery chain La Panire, a family-run business since 1993, has recently completed the unique installation of noise-cancelling decorative wall panels for its Genay site, with plans to roll out the panels to its numerous other sites across France.

La Panière bakeries are known for their convivial and warm locations, where bread is baked in front of the customers and the decoration of its more than forty branches offers a relaxed location to enjoy a bite to eat. For the opening of its Genay site in September 2020, the company took this philosophy a step further by adding wall decorations that are designed to reduce noise pollution in high traffic areas. La Panière can now offer its customers a warm and contemporary space to dine-in, free from the noise pollution generated by the busy high street outside.
Working with local print service provider IOC Print subsidiary of KVC group (Koramic Visual Communication) and technical textile expert Dickson Constant, the acoustic wall coverings were constructed from photographs printed with micro-perforated SWK6 Ink by Dickson Constant onto woven fabric, and then installed across three walls of the dual-story bakery. Lined with fleece, the 3m 20cm wide decoration offers 100% sound absorption across the shop floor, maintaining the resolution of the original photograph as closely as possible.
IOC Print relied on its fleet on HP Latex 3000 and 3600 printers, sold by Euromedia the biggest HP Latex reseller in France, to tackle this ambitious project. This is the first time IOC Print and Dickson Constant have worked together with an acoustic substrate, and ultimately delivered an incomparably high-end print quality. Speaking to his company’s choice to invest in HP Latex technology, Sebastien Riondet, Sales Manager at IOC Print explained: ‘We were drawn to HP Latex by the use of water-based inks. We love that these inks are environmentally friendly and preserve the appearance and gloss of all types of media. The prints are odourless with vibrant colours, which is really important for a dining experience.’
After a year of design, production, and implementation, La Panière’s Genay site has significantly reduced the noise pollution around its point of sale, while refreshing itself with a unique and contemporary wall decoration.
