BOBST die-cutter & hot foil stamper gives NuPress a gilt-edged advantage over its competitors

Monday 01. March 2021 - The company is characterized by the passion and dedication of its staff, exceptional customer service and premium quality of its output. It prints books, catalogs, brochures, flyers, magazines and much more, and also does large format and digital printing.

Miami, Florida. Known for its gorgeous beaches, hot weather and vibrant nightlife. It is also home to NuPress, a commercial printing company that has operated in the heart of the city since 1995.
“My main job function is being the glue that keeps this cohesive team working together,” he explains. “I also oversee sales and production on a daily basis. Our customers are everything to us, so it’s really important that we utilize premium resources to produce printing at its finest. That’s why, when we were thinking about a new die-cutter, it was a no-brainer to choose a BOBST machine.”
Miami Ice: Bringing cool Swiss efficiency to a hot climate
De La Vega wanted NuPress to have an even stronger presence in the packaging industry, and decided that by adding foiling and embossing to the services they offered their clients, they could gain an important competitive advantage.
“We had no previous relationship or history with BOBST, but the whole printing industry is well aware of their reputation,” he says. “Hands down, BOBST is the best in the business when it comes to die-cutting. So, when it was time to replace our outdated die cutter, BOBST was the first place we went to.”
After researching BOBST’s equipment, de La Vega and his team opted for the BOBST SP104 BM, which is a hot foil stamper, embosser and die-cutter all in one. It can handle hot foil stamping of both paper and carton board and all manner of embossing, from traditional copper to multi-dimensional sculptured dies. All at speeds up to 7,500 sheets per hour.
“This solution enhances our business in that we can now offer foil stamping, embossing and debossing as an in-house service,” says de La Vega. “As well as core functions of the machine, the other criteria we looked for were cost, reliability of equipment, service and maintenance of the machine as well as the training offered. BOBST ticked all the boxes.”
“The sky’s the limit”
After a smooth installation process in November 2020, the SP104 BM was soon up-and-running and making a significant difference to the NuPress business.
“As of today, this machine has doubled our manufacturing capabilities in die cutting, and we are looking forward to the same results in foil stamping production,” says de La Vega. “Being able to offer these services in-house enables us to give even more competitive quotes for our customers’ projects. We can also die cut jobs at a faster speed and are able to meet our customers’ tight deadlines with more ease. The sky’s the limit with this type of equipment.”
So, would he recommend this product to other companies?
“No, absolutely not!” laughs de La Vega. “I can’t recommend it to my peers because they are my competitors, and I do not want them to have the same edge I have on the market!”
