The Epson SureColor SC-R5000SC-R5000L use an odourless water-based resin ink

Tuesday 22. September 2020 - With the introduction of the SureColor SC-R5000SC-R5000L large format series, Epson is expanding its range of signage printers with two special solutions using water-based, odourless resin inks. The new Epson R-series meets even the demanding requirements of the printing industry for quick-drying, curing resin inks.

In the SC-R5000/SC-R5000L, Epson’s many years of experience in the fields of imaging, colour management and media combine to create professional printing solutions. With the now comprehensive range of eco-solvent, UV and now also resin printing systems, Epson offers solutions for almost all applications in the fields of signage, PoS and interior design. The new SureColor SC-R5000 and SC-R5000L will be available from December 2020 at qualified specialist dealers.
The new 6-colour ink set UltraChrome RS consists of odourless water-based resin inks. Therefore the prints are suitable for indoor use in schools, hospitals, hotels but also in living rooms, shops, galleries and similar. The bulk solution in the R5000 works with 1.5 litre ink bags and is suitable for medium print volumes. The SC-R5000L incorporates a hot-swap version with a double set of inks, so switching from an empty to a full bag is done automatically, without stopping printing. automatic This ensures more productive work.
The 64-inch (162 cm) wide printer offers high performance thanks to its PrecisionCore Micro-TFP print head. The temperature of three independent heating systems (pre-heat / plate heat / post-heat), monitored by four heat sensors, ensures consistent colour reproduction across the entire print area.
The efficient drying and curing process allows for timely finishing operations such as laminating, cutting and laminating, thus enabling faster completion of the material, which significantly shortens throughput times.
The durable PrecisionCore Micro TFP print head ensures precise, repeatable colours from the first to the last print. Piezo printheads are also not subject to thermal stress, so droplet placement and size remain constant throughout the life of the printhead. If the head needs to be changed, the user can do this himself. This reduces downtime and increases productivity.
Advanced Auto Tension Control (Ad-ATC) provides precise positioning of the design on the media. This makes it very easy to place the print accurately on, for example, tiles, windows and wall coverings. The good reproducibility of even difficult colours saves material, reduces the set-up time of a print and delivers high-quality results quickly and reliably.
Frank Schenk, Head of Commercial & Industrial Printing at Epson Deutschland GmbH, says: “As always, the new SureColor SC-R5000 and SC-R5000L have been developed precisely to meet the needs of our customers. These presses meet high standards of quality, productivity, reliability and impress with their precise colour reproduction. An important advantage of the new R-series is their easy maintenance. For example, the print head can be replaced without the need for an external technician. With our comprehensive range of eco-solvent, UV and now also resin printing systems, Epson is the solution provider for applications in the signage, PoS and interior design printing environment”.
