Between Live Demonstrations and Closing Contracts

Friday 23. October 2015 - ppi Media at the World Publishing Expo 2015 in Hamburg

There was a lot to do for ppi Media at the World Publishing Expo 2015 in Hamburg

72 hours, 120 appointments, 3 signed contract and a tour of the editorial offices of Germany’s leading magazine for entrepreneurs. For the ppi Media team, the World Publishing Expo 2015 felt like a marathon. The annual gathering of publishers and printers took place from October 5 to 7 and there was a lot going on. This year, the WAN-IFRA organizers invited everyone to Hamburg, which made the whole thing feel like a home game for ppi Media.

Hamburg, October 16, 2015. Bucking the trend: Despite a lower number of visitors and fewer walk-ins, the World Publishing Expo 2015 will go down as a resounding success for ppi Media: “Our booth was full from start to finish. In those three days, we held roughly 120 conversations with current and potential future customers, conducted demonstrations and answered questions in lively discussions. There was no time to catch our breath. Nonetheless, we did notice that the hall in general was not quite as full as it had been in previous years. For us, however, the World Publishing Expo remains the most important and profitable event of the year just after ppi’s Open Days,” says Norbert Ohl, Managing Director at ppi Media, putting it all in a nutshell.

New customers and projects

ppi Media announced that it had signed a total of three contracts during the World Publishing Expo: RP Online decided in favor of AdX Digital, the Toronto Star signed on as a new customer for ppi Media’s classic PlanPag and AdPag solutions and the done-deal with Madsack’s Managing Director, Christoph Rüth. He selected ppi Media’s AdX Print with Gutenberg Rechenzentrum’s deeply integrated ad system VI&VA. “Beyond that, we are also very excited that the Reiff Verlag in Offenburg decided in favor of our InkReduction solution to optimize their ink usage,” reveals Norbert Ohl.

Paying a visit to impulse’s editorial offices

In addition to the new customer projects, ppi Media’s Managing Director illustrates another highlight from the Expo: The tour of impulse, the magazine for entrepreneurs. Roughly 20 participants made their way to impulse Medien’s editorial offices on the third day of the event. Publishing Director Ole Jendis and Managing Director Eva Weikert opened their doors and provided exclusive insight into the magazine’s philosophy, strategy and its plans for the future. In addition to that, the visitors experienced Content-X live. impulse has been using this editorial solution since 2013. At that time, Impulse Medien GmbH separated from its parent company, Gruner + Jahr, and since then impulse has been using ppi Media and Digital Collections’ Content-X to produce its monthly publication as well as its special editions and inserts.

Focusing on the Scandinavian Market

Joakim Hvistendahl was present at ppi Media’s booth for the first time. The Norwegian is a ppi Media sales representative, key account manager and responsible for sales in Scandinavia. Joakim Hvistendahl is an independent consultant from JHV Media Consult who is quite familiar with the Scandinavian media sector. For eleven years he worked at a regional daily newspaper in Norway where he worked his way up to management. Later he switched to a Danish software supplier where he worked for another 14 years. His 25 years of experience in Scandinavian media make him a very valuable partner for ppi Media.

Upon conclusion of this year’s exhilarating expo in Hamburg, ppi Media is looking forward to the next one, which will be held in Austria. The software expert will again participate in the World Publishing Expo next year when it convenes in Vienna from October 10 to 12, 2016.
