Cost-cutting with spray dampening units fitted with technotrans self-cleaning nozzles

Friday 23. January 2015 - The modernisation of newspaper printing presses with new spray dampening units offers a considerable cost-cutting potential. technotrans AG, a manufacturer of peripheral equipment for the printing industry, uses special self-cleaning and extremely low-maintenance nozzles in its deltaspray.line products. The resulting cost savings can boost the competitiveness of already existing systems.

Older systems often do not include any spray dampening units, explains Peter Böcker, head of sales at technotrans AG: “However, not only the acquisition of new systems, but also the replacement of older, outdated models, can increase the system efficiency to a considerable extent,” he says. This is why technotrans has developed the deltaspray.line with several unique advantages.
No clogging of the nozzles thanks to the Venturi effect
The most important selling point compared to other solutions is the self-cleaning nozzle. Special structures in the cap of the nozzle produce the so-called Venturi effect, i.e. the generation of negative pressure. Clean air from inside the housing is drawn in and flows around the nozzle. As a result, dirt and ink particles cannot clog the nozzle. This effect is realised completely without any external energy supply. Actively generated compressed air, which leads to high energy costs, is thereby made redundant. The longer service life and the reduced level of wear lead to a further boost of productivity. “We have been using this technology successfully in numerous systems for several years,” explains Peter Böcker. The user feedback is positive in every way.
Intelligent set-up for a higher level of efficiency
The entire set-up of the system aims at boosting productivity. Thanks to the modular spray dampening units as well as their nozzles that can be controlled individually, the dampening solution dosing process is highly precise. The exact dampening solution application improves the quality of the printed product to a considerable extent. The nozzles are equipped with a bayonet lock, ensuring their quick exchange in just a few simple steps – no tools needed. As a result, maintenance tasks can be completed easily in just a few minutes.
The integration into already existing systems is coordinated in co-operation with technotrans AG. The company also offers a complete range of peripheral equipment for newspaper printing, from dampening solution circulation up to central ink supply systems.
