Screen Truepress Jet L350UV Offers Many Creative Opportunities for Short- to Medium-Run Label Production

Monday 06. October 2014 - Labels attract attention in the marketplace and help promote brands to consumers. Label printers looking to benefit from consistent, photograph-level imaging and reliable handling of variable data can find both attributes and more in one impressive digital printing device.

For success within the label and packaging market, the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV delivers excellent print quality, wide color gamut, repeatability, quickness and profitability. A diverse digital press with a wide range of capabilities and substrate versatility, the Truepress Jet L350UV achieves superb output on paper substrates, metallic foil, transparent film, polypropylene and polyethylene. It combines high image resolution, advanced inkjet printhead technology and white ink capabilities to bring out the best in food and beverage labels, industrial and safety labels, point-of-purchase labels, drug labels and many more label applications.
With a peak printing speed of 164 feet per minute (or 173.2 square feet of printed labels per minute), the Truepress Jet L350UV provides cost-effective short to medium runs for trial marketing, versioning and personalization of decorative pressure-sensitive labels. The press handles roll media from 3.9 inches to 13.7 inches wide and features a maximum printing area of 12.6 inches.
Each printhead features four levels of grayscale with a minimum droplet size of 3 picoliters and 600 dpi resolution. Screen’s wide-gamut CMYK inks enable a natural finish with smooth tones even for label designs with subtle color differences. Applying high-opacity white ink as under color, over color or screening opens up numerous creative possibilities. Users can configure the Truepress Jet L350UV as a CMYK press and upgrade to white ink later as their application needs evolve.
The new corona discharge option improves ink adhesion on the media surface. Corona treatment prior to the application of inks produces outstanding images on coated labels, synthetics, films and metalized substrates. The web cleaner, with its combination of a cleaning roller and adhesion roller, effectively removes dust, paper particles and powder. This device ensures consistent corona treatment, low press maintenance and stable, uninterrupted operation.
The Truepress Jet L350UV can be configured as a roll-to-roll press for near-line finishing or can incorporate inline automated label production from beginning to end. Integration with third-party finishing systems automates the process of lamination, die-cutting, foiling, coating and embossing.
In September, Screen introduced the JetConverter L350, a new label-converting line for the Truepress Jet L350UV. The JetConverter L350 provides high-speed processing of label stock up to 209.9 feet per minute. It includes semi-rotary flexo printing and coating, semi-rotary die-cutting with 25.5-inch magnetic cylinder and various options for cold foiling and laminating. The JetConverter L350 also offers a one-contact waste matrix stripping module and scissor slitting module mounted with lift-out knife shafts (the slitting knives feature automatic setup).
