Screen USA Exhibiting High-Quality PlateRite FX870II Flexo Platemaking Unit at Labelexpo Americas 2014

Thursday 11. September 2014 - Since the introduction, in 2006, of its first digital imaging device for the flexographic market — PlateRite FX870 — Screen has responded to the packaging industry's demands for ever-increasing quality and productivity.

Screen engineered the high-resolution PlateRite FX870II to provide even greater performance in every aspect of the narrow-web flexo platemaking process, from plate mounting to exposure. Screen USA is exhibiting the PlateRite FX870II at Labelexpo Americas 2014 in Booth #3005 on September 9-11 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.
The PlateRite FX870II outputs flexo digital plates, letterpress digital plates and thermal ablative film in any size from 4 x 4 inches to 30 x 34.2 inches for the production of labels, tags, plastic bags and specialty materials. The machine includes the option of imaging thermal offset plates.
The PlateRite FX870II offers high productivity and high quality. The PlateRite FX870II achieves unmatched speeds up to 4 square meters (43.75 square feet) per hour when imaging flexo plates and 6 square meters (62.49 square feet) per hour using offset plates, depending on plate media sensitivity. It features a 32-channel imaging head with the customer-proven laser diode design used in the PlateRite family of offset CTP recorders. Screen’s acclaimed imaging technology enables output resolutions of 2,400 dpi, 2,540 dpi and 4,800 dpi, and screen rulings up to 200 lpi. This level of precision and resolution enhances the look of curved and diagonal shapes, as well as the reproduction of fine lines and cutout text.
Flexo Dot Hybrid Screening capitalizes on the 4,800 dpi capabilities of the PlateRite FX series (which also includes the PlateRite FX1200 and PlateRite FX1524) to create highlights that are optimized for high-resolution flexo printing. As a result, the PlateRite FX870II delivers quality comparable to offset printing. In addition, the PlateRite FX870II accommodates standard AM screening, Screen’s Spekta 2 hybrid screening. Screen also offers a Multi-Screening module that employs the optimal type of screening for each object being printed.
Loading plates in the PlateRite FX870II is easy. The operator simply clamps the leading edge of the resin plate and then tapes the trailing edge. This simple plate loading procedure works for all the plate sizes supported by the PlateRite FX870II, including the minimum and maximum sizes.
