Rose enhances calendar quality with reverse osmosis system

Wednesday 07. May 2014 - Rose Calendars has installed a technotrans' alpha r.10 water treatment system to keep the pH and hardness is constant across five of its battery of presses.

Keith Osborne, production manager, says: “The water can affect the life of the rollers on the press. By having control over the water conductivity we can reduce the press downtime and maintenance as well as increasing the quality of the work we produce. It means we achieve predictable results and good repeatability, which is vital for the type of advertising calendars we handle.”
The company, also known as Rose of Colchester, is a near neighbour of technotrans. The alpha r.10 replaces a beta testing machine that the company had run, having been ideally placed for monitoring by the peripherals supplier when it was installed nine years ago.
“We have a good relationship with technotrans, they give good advice and are always available to us,” says Mr Osborne.
Rose Calendars also runs temperature control, alcohol and alcohol dosing units from technotrans on its presses. The alpha.r will provide water to a Roland 305, a Speedmaster SM 74 and two SM 52s, a four-colour and two-colour.
The company’s busiest period is towards the end of the year as people order up calendars for the New Year.
The popularity of technotrans’ reverse osmosis systems has increased over recent years as process control has become more important. Water treatment removes the variables in the main water supply, providing a known and consistent quality and conductivity. This is essential for printers looking to achieve trouble free low- or no-alcohol printing.
