The Additive Manufacturing Association within VDMA will be launched on May 28th, 2014 at the VDMA’s headquarter in Frankfurt/Main.
Additive Manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, attracts wide interest with the industry across a wide variety of sectors. In some sectors of machinery manufacturing this technology has been in use for years, for example in rapid prototyping.
The 3D printing market has been growing an average annual 25,4% for the last ten years (according to T. Wohlers/USA, 2013). Sales worldwide are expected to rise to about 5 billion USD annually until 2017.
Machinery and equipment for industrial additive manufacturing are also developed and produced by German mechanical engineers and machinery manufacturers. The range of application is wide, since it offers new creative leeways, advantages producing small quantities with high complexity, as well as a fast implementation without tools, and potential for light weight construction.
