Multi-material cutters for XXXL formats

Monday 17. March 2014 - Series "Innovative printing and paper technology" (2): ARISTO Graphic Systeme from Hamburg advances to work formats of more than 5x5m with its large format cutter series. A modular tool head system not only enables to produce blanks of XXXL digital prints fast and with precisely cut contours, but also to cut or route panel materials and all kinds of films one can think of.

The idea: This size intrigued ARISTO even before the first digital printing
machines with a working width of 5m were available. Because the Hamburg-based
company is not only a supplier of the graphic arts industry, but also of packaging
manufacturers, manufacturers of large gaskets and other special products – from
carbon components to large displays and µm-thin high-tech films. In these
areas, too, there was a demand for precisely cut large-format blanks. Finally
the decisive move forward came with the digital printing machines where the printed
products also depend on the post-processing quality. At least where contours
need to be cut or µm tolerances need to be observed, the computerised large format
cutters are superior to all manual processes.
The technology: ARISTO has designed the machines of the large format cutter series as a modular
system using the same parts. The basis is always identical no matter whether a customer
cuts packaging prototypes, large-format prints or gaskets for wind turbines or
routes metal and wood panels. Up to four different tool heads ranging from
cutters to cutting wheels and the router make the machine a stand-alone tool.
The key know-how lies in the construction and drive of the bridge from which
the mobile tool heads hover over the work area. Stiffening, light-weight
construction and precise control are the be-all and end-all to the control of
these dynamics. They are the key to fast, vibration-free acceleration and
deceleration – and, as a result, to maximum precision with minimum process
times and energy consumption.
