GrafiWrap/WRT Champion in the FIA GT Series

Tuesday 03. December 2013 - After a magical final stage, GrafiWrap and its partner Belgian Audi Club team WRT were crowned FIA GT Series champion in Baku (Azerbaijan).

Vanthoor-Ortelli in their matt black wrapped Audi had already widened the gap with their direct competitors in the first race. The very last race of the year was going to decide who would eventually win the title. The champion could only be one of the GrafiWrap Audi team drivers. Of course, the second matt black Audi, with Stippler-Sandström at the wheel, also wanted to win the title. And Mayr-Melhnhof with the third GrafiWrap Audi could also still win the championship.
Everyone was nerve-racked when the complete field of Audis, Ferraris, Porsches, McLarens and Mercedesses tore away. Many cars already got badly damaged in an infernal first round, but Ortelli managed to take the lead after all. But a little bit later, while trying to take over a slower car, he had to jam on the brakes – two other cars managed to pass him again.
When the race was almost halfway the safety car came on the track. The debris of the race cars were scattered all over ! After the safety car intervention, the remaining GrafiWrap race cars entered the pitlane for another driver to take the wheel. Young Laurens Vanthoor soon moved up a couple of places and managed to win the race, before two McLarens. A smashing succes, with the three GrafiWrap cars ending first, second and third in this “world championship”. Of course WRT Racing also finishes first in the team championship.
