Full speed ahead for laminators

Thursday 24. October 2013 - H.B. Fuller (NYSE: FUL) today announced that with faster line speeds and shorter curing times, H.B. Fuller's new, solvent-free laminating adhesive enables products to be finished quicker - whilst adhering to food standard regulations.

In today’s buoyant and competitive flexible packaging market, many manufacturers are seeking every opportunity to grow profitably. And one way of doing this is faster production speeds, creating great looking laminate materials which comply with food safety regulations. That’s why H.B. Fuller, a leading global adhesives provider, has developed Flextra Fast SFA 8700 + XR 1000 – a solvent-free laminating adhesive that allows for faster production times. The result is that manufacturers can now achieve line speeds which are almost twice as fast as before.
As Elizabeth Staab, marketing manager at H.B. Fuller, explains, “Flextra Fast SFA 8700 + XR 1000  adhesive allows for a step change in performance for manufacturers who want to expand production. It enables them to be more responsive to customers and produce products, which comply with food safety regulations, much faster.”
At every stage in the production process, Flextra Fast SFA 8700 + XR 1000  adhesive works to save time, reduce costs and improve profitability. Its fast bonding characteristics, for example, mean that it excels bonding the substrates during the curing process. Importantly, this reduces the costly dead time between lamination and slitting. In fact, many customers find that they can start slitting within a few hours of the adhesive being applied – a big plus for the bottom line.
Even at the curing stage, valuable hours are saved. Whilst laminates with standard solvent-free adhesives have to sit in the warehouse for one to two days, Flextra Fast SFA 8700 + XR 1000  cuts that down to a few hours. As well as creating faster turnaround times, this means manufacturers can be far more flexible.
“Flextra Fast SFA 8700 + XR 1000  adhesive really makes a difference to customers in terms of quality, appearance and speed of response to new orders,” Elizabeth adds.
