Antalis honours the best in print design at the Review Awards
Wednesday 26. June 2013 - Graphic design studio Valle Walkley was last night unveiled as the overall winner of the Antalis Review Awards 2012/2013 during an exclusive ceremony held at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios in London.
Celebrating excellence and innovation in print design, the 23rd annual Antalis Review Awards welcomed the attendance of around 150 leading figures from the graphic design and print industries.
As part of the evening, attendees had their photo taken on the crossing outside the studios, which was made famous by The Beatles Abbey Road album cover, and were filmed singing The Beatles classic ‘Twist and Shout’.
Judges from a number of leading design studios selected Valle Walkley’s Body Language Series as their favourite from over 500 entries. Produced using Antalis paper stock, Olin Regular, Natural White,120gsm, The Body Language Series was highlighted by the judges to stand out above the rest with outstanding production and typography along with creative use of colour.
Other winners on the night included Radford Wallis for Howay in a Manger, which was chosen as the best Direct Mail campaign. The works were described by judges as “engaging”, winning further praise for their typography and use of space. Radford Wallis also won in the Annual/Interim Reports and Recycled categories for its Farm Africa project.
AV Brown’s Nocturnal was selected as best Stationery campaign for its “fun use of glow in the dark ink and textured stock”, while Alphabetical was the winner in the Brochures (Services) category for College to Industry A-Z.
In the Brochures (Product) and Brochures (Corporate) categories, Made Thought was lauded for its Made at Ratio and Design Miami campaigns while Five Foot Six was selected as the winner in Magazines and Catalogues for What Next.
Meanwhile, the Best in Digital Print category was won by Magpie Studios, which was chosen for its Tune into National Prison Radio works. Judges praised the campaign for its “creative use of digital print and white ink” and for being a “great, effortless piece”.
Finally, Design Republic was named in the Creative Paper category for its Bunch of Fives book. The studio was commended for its use of colour and its choice of Antalis stock, which included Olin Regular, Cream, 150gsm and Pop Set, Apricot, 100gsm for the cover.
Judges for the Review Awards included Bob Mytton, Partner and Creative Director at Mytton Williams, Ben Christie, Creative Partner at Magpie Studio; Craig Oldham of Music; and Carl Murch, Design Principal, Graphics of Checkland Kindleysides.
