Eastman Highlights Advantages of its Special Plastics and Plastifiers and TPUs and Performence Films and Announces New Distributor at Feiplastic 2013

Wednesday 12. June 2013 - Company reinforces the various benefits of its lines, announces Entec-Ravago as a new distributor of co-polyesters in Brazil and gets ready for new opportunities during the event.

Eastman Chemical Company, a company specializing in chemicals, will be at Feiplastic (International Plastic Fair), the largest space in Latin America for introducing trends and showcasing the latest the industry has to offer. The event takes place May 20 to 24, at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, in São Paulo – SP. It gathers manufacturers of raw plastic material, distributors, equipment and peripherals manufacturers, importers, molders and industrial development agencies.
During the fair, Eastman will have its own stand, located on street C 98, and it will reinforce the advantages of three of its main product lines – Special Plastics, Plastifiers and TPUs and Performance Films. Notable in the Special Plastics area are the Tritan co-polyester, the Eastar CN015 co-polyester, and the other families of co-polyesters and cellulosics for various applications. The Tritan co-polyester is ideal for applications that require resistance to temperature, transparency and impact and chemical resistance; it is also Bisphenol A free. Among the various markets served by this co-polyester are basic childcare, housewares, appliances, white line, sports bottles, medical components – both packages and devices. Eastar CN015 co-polyester is used in the cosmetics industry, since it is capable of creating packages with thick, transparent walls that are resistant to chemicals and impacts and also Bisphenol A free.
Eastman is also using the event to display its lines of traditional co-polyesters, such as Eastar, Durastar, Aspira and Provista, which comply with laws regarding contact with foods. They also have good chemical resistance properties, are easy to process and are pleasant to the touch.
Yet another highlight from the company will be the public announcement of its new distributor for the co-polyesters line in Brazil, Entec-Ravago, which is focused on delivering quality solutions and sustainability. That is how Eastman is guaranteeing its commitment to solutions that protect the environment.
In the area of plastifiers and TPUs, Eastman is introducing its entire line of plastifiers, highlighting non-phthalates, for various markets and applications, including products made in Brazil by its Scandiflex subsidiary. The line of TPUs allows several solutions to be developed for the most varied industries, which are used in pneumatic products, shoe soles, petroleum tubes and even dental material, among other things.
Finally, in the area of Performance Films, Eastman polyester films have many uses, including these four applications: solar control, solar control for windshields, security and paint protection. The first uses provide better internal temperature control, therefore generating a savings on the electricity spent on climate control, as well as saving fuel when used in vehicles. Sun control film for windshields, LLumar AIRBLUE, reduces the solar energy reaching the inside the vehicle by 44%. Its 78% light transmission does not compromise the driver’s visibility and complies with the limits of current laws.
Security film protects in events of accidental breakage of glass and in storms, in hail storms or when two objects collide, with glass pieces remaining attached to the film, minimizing the risk of accidents. When used on glass windows in vehicles, they protect against cuts in the event of lateral collisions and help to hinder vandalism such as breakage of lateral glass on vehicles, protecting drivers and their possessions. Polyeurathane-based Paint Protection Films can be applied on any color of vehicle and form a practically invisible barrier that maintains paint on automobiles and reduces marks from stones, chemical products, scratches and marks.
Eastman, which has already taken part in other editions, hopes to strengthen more relations with clients in the region and expand its base of opportunities through the fair. “It is a huge event for the plastic market in Latin America, which is why we are preparing a special space at our stand for welcoming our clients and distributors, which do exceptional work even with the territorial size of Brazil and the other countries in Latin America. The choice of products on display shows the public the innovation of Eastman, which has won over new markets,” says Luis Pagan, Manager of the Advanced Materials business area at Eastman in Latin America.
“Scandiflex has always attended Feiplastic (formerly Brasilplast), and is now part of the Eastman family. This responsibility of showing innovations and new products in plastifiers and TPU to the market has doubled, sine we are carrying a heritage that suits Eastman’s culture perfectly, with quality products, manufactured in Brazil and with excellence in solutions for our clients,” says Mauro Carqueijo, Sales Director at Scandiflex, an Eastman Chemical Company subsidiary in Brazil.
