Dainippon Screen Prepares Advanced UV Inkjet Label Printing System as Provisional Exhibit for pacprint 2013

The Media and Precision Technology Company (President: Katsuhiko Aoki) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) plans to exhibit the Truepress Jet L350UV, UV inkjet label printing system, as a provisional exhibit at pacprint2013, to be held from May 21 (Tuesday) to 25 (Saturday) at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
The Truepress Jet L350UV model to be shown at pacprint2013 is an advanced version of the prototype shown at drupa, the world’s leading trade fair for the printing industry, held in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 2012. In market surveys targeting both the Japanese domestic and international label printing industries, Screen received a large number of requests to improve connectability with prepress and post-press units. Based on this, it has made changes including moving the roll paper setting unit to the outside of the system and is continuing development with a view to releasing the Truepress Jet L350UV in the second half of this year.
With conventional label printing methods, a large number of processes with various skilled operations were required for exposure and washout during platemaking as well as pressure control during actual print-ing. Thanks to its UV inkjet system, the Truepress Jet L350UV enables easier operation that does not depend on the operator’s skill level and, at the same time, achieved industry leading speeds and throughput of up to 50 m (164.0 ft)* per minute. In addition, as this method allows the output of any required volume at any time, it addresses the problems of diversified, short run printing associated with plate-based approaches. It also eliminates inventory control issues related to high volume label production. In terms of its print qual-ity, the Truepress Jet L350UV is equipped with grayscale printheads that achieve an impressive minimum droplet size of three picoliters and 600 dpi. As well as enabling the expression of smoother gradations, these heads support the use of specialized wide gamut inks and, as a result, higher quality levels for labels.
Screen plans to capitalize on its participation in pacprint2013 by showing the label printing industry the improved added value achievable with the Truepress Jet L350UV, and will also continue to pursue its goal of proactively addressing the needs of a wide range of system users.
