Thursday 14. February 2013 - W+D showcasing four key products from Mail Solutions portfolio - including W+D TIMOS Totally Integrated Mail Output Solution, which debuted at drupa 2012 - at Hunkeler Innovationdays

Building on its success in 2012, leading Mail Solutions provider W+D (Info Booth 12) is showcasing its award-winning Mail Solutions portfolio at this year’s Hunkeler Innovationdays (11-15 February 2013) at the Messe Lucerne exhibition facility in Switzerland. Demonstrating the power of the envelope and the effectiveness of physical direct mail, visitors to the W+D stand can see four key products exhibited via detailed video presentations, including the W+D TIMOS Totally Integrated Mail Output Solution.
Since its debut at drupa 2012, W+D TIMOS – which delivers envelope manufacturing, individual printing and inserting all in one pass, enveloped-on-the-fly – has been fast gaining industry recognition. It won an ‘IF Product Design Award’ in the ‘Industry / Skilled Trades’ category and was a finalist in the 2012 Postal Technology Awards in the automation category, with the judges praising the machine’s ‘competitive edge’ and its ‘verifiable business advantages’. Furthermore it won an ‘Good Design Award 2012’ in the industrial product category in Chicago, USA, while TIMail – the fastest customized mailing piece in a real envelope – made by W+D TIMOS – was certified by German Postal organization Deutsche Post.
The W+D Mail Solutions portfolio offers mail production businesses and commercial printers a more effective alternative to personalised electronic mailing. Also being presented at the W+D stand is the W+D 320, a high-quality envelope production system that is capable of in-line cutting, foil patching, scoring and perforating envelopes for short-runs at speeds of up to 21,000 envelopes per hour. In addition there is the W+D 234d, a robust, industrial grade, high speed four-colour (CYMK) inkjet envelope overprinter that can run up to speeds of 30,000 envelopes per hour, while the W+D BB700 device is the fastest machine in the company’s inserting product line, processing formats from C6 up to B4 at 16,000 cycles per hour.
Thorsten Jost, Vice President Sales & Marketing, W+D Direct Marketing Solutions, comments: “Well-targeted direct mail is proven to be effective in driving response, and independent research from Neilsen supports this. The study reveals that the printed envelope represents the most effective mailing option compared to email, self-mailers, wrappers and standard envelopes, delivering the highest recall value and at 84.5%, it has the highest open and read rate of all media. Moreover, no other mailing variation motivates recipients more to pass on content to friends and acquaintances. These findings point to significant opportunities for commercial direct mail producers and marketing services providers to increase quality and productivity of printed envelopes, and to incorporate sophisticated personalisation to add further impact.”
Thorsten Jost continues: “Hunkeler Innovationdays is the ideal environment in which to showcase our solutions and share our vision for empowering the envelope.”
