Digital Paymeter signings signal strong momentum for digital subscriptions
Friday 01. February 2013 - Publishers control 100% of revenue with Digital Technology's metered approach
Since introducing Digital Paymeter last August, Digital Technology International (DTI) has experienced strong demand from news media publishers for the innovative digital subscription solution. Eight agreements were signed before the end of 2012 building momentum for broad industry adoption of the metered approach.
Digital Paymeter agreements were signed in 2012 with these media companies:
Register-Guard – Eugene, Oregon
The Elkhart Truth – Elkhart, Indiana
The Free-Lance Star – Fredericksburg, Virginia
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Virginia Pilot – Norfolk, Virginia
The Roanoke Times – Roanoke, Virginia
Orange County Register- Santa Ana, California
Erie Times-News – Erie, Pennsylvania
Digital Paymeter is a cloud-based digital subscription solution that eliminates revenue-sharing so publishers can retain 100% of their paid content revenue. Publishers also retain control over their customer relationships because subscriber data is not shared. Digital Paymeter provides complete control over pricing and bundling of digital and print subscription models and the thresholds for free vs. paid access. It works with any circulation or content management system.
“Digital Paymeter has had a successful launch and the 2013 forecast continues to look great,” said Dan Paulus, president, Digital Technology International. “We listened to what publishers wanted in a digital subscription solution. Control and flexibility. They want control over their revenues and their customer relationships. They want the flexibility to change as the market evolves. We are experiencing success because Digital Paymeter delivers on both fronts.”
Digital Paymeter, which is powered by Syncronex, is sold exclusively by Digital Technology around the world. The proven technology has been in live production for almost two years at the Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee.
Digital Paymeter is the first service offered through DigitalSpectrum, DTI’s new digital revenue platform. Many revenue expanding cloud-based services will be offered in the future under the DigitalSpectrum brand.
