Fujifilm continues its low-chemistry strategy with launch of Brillia PRO-VN2 at IFRA Expo 2012

Monday 29. October 2012 - Fujifilm is using its presence at IFRA Expo 2012, stand 450, to launch its next generation newspaper plate: Brillia PRO-VN2. This plate is the latest in Fujifilm's 'low-chemistry' range, and complements the well-known Brillia PRO-VN.

Fujifilm has been investing resources in both product development and manufacturing to enable it to offer one of the widest ranges of sustainable plate production systems on the market, and is expanding its successful range of ‘low-chemistry’ plate production systems with the launch of Brillia PRO-VN2.
The new plate is a more robust version of Brillia PRO-VN, suitable for longer run applications of up to 300,000 impressions, and boasts enhanced durability in addition to its low-chemistry features. Traditionally, high run lengths have been difficult to achieve when using a simple low chemistry finishing process. However, Fujifilm has introduced Brillia PRO-VN2 to solve this problem, by developing a new binder and dispersion technology, and by improving production techniques in each manufacturing plant. Brillia PRO-VN2 is also more resistant to chemicals and thus able to be used in a wider range of conditions.
The Brillia PRO-VN2 plate offers newspaper printers the following benefits which build on, or are additional to, those offered by PRO-VN:
More environmentally friendly and simpler processing
Easier maintenance of finishing unit
Less waste produced
Space saving with smaller footprint
No pH control required
Easily changeable from the current photopolymer system
The new plate also features:
Higher run length
Higher chemical resistance
Higher strength aluminium

Fujifilm is also using IFRA Expo to discuss with visitors to its stand how its impressive line-up of plate production and pressroom solutions can help newspaper printers optimise their offset print production. Using the latest Fujifilm technologies, newspaper printers can improve efficiencies, reduce costs, minimise their environmental impact, and improve operator safety – all critical issues in today’s newspaper production environments.
Finally, the company is updating visitors about its Jet Press W digital inkjet web press initially showcased at drupa 2012. This new digital press is suitable for short run newspaper applications, and enables duplex printing within a single tower design for a small footprint, using Fujifilm’s VIVIDIA ink to facilitate superb image quality.
“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to discuss with them our brand new low-chemistry plate for newspapers, as well as our Jet Press W and long standing offerings for the newspaper market,” says Yasufumi Morimoto, senior vice president, FUJIFILM Europe GmbH. “We are keen to explain how we can help them to achieve the quality they need quickly and at the minimum cost, with a range of different solutions.”
