More automation in the prepress workflow

With ppi Media’s prepress solutions OM, ProofStation, JobEntry and OM portal, Aschendorff Media, publisher of among others the daily newspaper Westfälische Nachrichten, will focus on a highly automated prepress workflow and, at the same time, expand its long-term cooperation with ppi Media.
“The installation of ppi Media’s new prepress workflow is linked to three main goals: a sorted plate output system that is coordinated to the imaging sequence, time and material savings at the control console by integrating ProofStation online in ABB’s MPS press control system, as well as an enhanced data workflow with our cooperative partners for ads and dailies using ppi’s web-to-print solution, OM portal, in the printing plant,” says Thomas Wenge, operations manager at the Aschendorff printing plant.
Optimized production workflow with ppi Media
With a sorted plate output, ppi’s output management system OM will ensure an efficient, highly automated plate output workflow for the daily newspapers produced by the Aschendorff Group, which will provide specific stations in the pressroom with sorted plates. Furthermore, ProofStation, ppi’s new proof system for the control console, will integrate the press control system perfectly and, as a result, save costs and material in the prepress workflow.
Another highlight of the new prepress workflow will be the launching of OM portal. Via the web-to-print solution, publishers and cooperative partners who print their publications at the Aschendorff printing plant can upload and assign pages for their print products. OM portal offers an intuitive and clearly-arranged GUI. Print customers are therefore fully integrated in the workflow from the time the print data is provided through to proofing and releasing.
Continuation of a long cooperation
By commissioning ppi Media to install its entire prepress solutions, Aschendorff Media is continuing its long and successful cooperation with ppi. ppi Media’s solutions for production planning, pagination and page assembly have already been successfully installed at Aschendorff.
