Océ signs agreement with Independent Printers Worldwide for Océ Arizona Series UV flatbed models
Friday 05. October 2012 - Océ, a Canon Group Company and an international leader in digital document management and printing for professionals, today announced it has signed an agreement with Independent Printers Worldwide (IPW) to add the award-winning Océ Arizona Series UV flatbed printers to IPW's North America Procurement Solutions program. This program enables IPW members in North America to acquire, at competitive rates, printing equipment and related supplies to help them prosper in the highly competitive print industry.
“To stay competitive, our independent printer members must find ways to branch out, by being able to expand into new application areas and grow their business,” said Dan Bendele, President and CEO of IPW. “Océ Arizona printers’ versatility and quality enables members to expand their wide format print offerings to capture print business that would have gone elsewhere.”
Océ Arizona Series opens doors to new revenue opportunities
If a job can be printed digitally, it most likely can be produced on an Océ Arizona UV flatbed printer. With the ability to print on a wide variety of media and objects, IPW members can capture revenue from new applications including package prototype printing, short-run jobs, display graphics and specialty applications.
Package prototype printing: IPW members can produce genuine package prototypes for packaging companies because the Océ Arizona printer can print directly to the paperboard, corrugate or top-sheet to be used in the final production. ONYX print workflow software – which drives Océ Arizona Series printers – provides the ability to work in a complete ICC color managed workflow, to accurately simulate the correct color that will come off the press. The software supports G7 and includes Pantone certified lookup tables for determining the closest CMYK match on the first attempt.
Short-run jobs: Short-run is now practical as a direct result of digital printing. Since there is virtually no setup required compared to offset or flexo, IPW members with an Océ Arizona printer can cost-effectively produce limited custom and short-run jobs that might be tied in with a local event, private label, test market or memorable event such as weddings, awards and recognition, commemorative events, etc. The ICC color managed workflow gives members the ability provide press proofs on the actual substrate that will be used in the final application.
Display graphics: Using an Océ Arizona Series printer to produce wide format display graphics can help keep revenue in-house rather than outsourcing those jobs that are too small to be profitable on an offset press. Full mixed-media campaigns that include rigid displays, banners, window cling, backlits, etc., can be produced on one printer, giving IPW users the ability to meet a range of customer needs for maximum revenue.
Specialty applications: Océ Arizona Series printers can also be used in industrial or specialty applications such as printing membrane switch overlays, digital wallpaper or decorating objects such as pre-assembled furniture pieces.
Three production levels, two table sizes
Included in IPW’s North America Procurement Solutions program are:
Océ Arizona 318 GL: standard table size, low-volume production
Océ Arizona 360 GT: standard table size, mid-volume production
Océ Arizona 360 XT: extra large table size, mid-volume production
Océ Arizona 550 GT: standard table size, high-volume production
Océ Arizona 550 XT: extra large table size, high-volume production

ONYX Workflow Software Océ Edition
Designed as true flatbed systems, Océ Arizona Series printers can print on a wide variety of rigid substrates up to two inches thick. The standard table size on GL and GT models can accommodate a 49.2 by 98.4 inch rigid board and is designed to handle the vast majority of display graphics jobs.
The extra large table size of the XT models enables printing of oversized sheets and objects up to 98.4 by 120 inches in size. These models can also be used in a continuous imaging mode for rigid media up to 49.2 by 98.4 inches (or a standard four- by eight-foot board). Two rigid boards can be placed on different areas of the flatbed table. While one board is being printed, the operator can change the other. Since the system never has to stop printing for a media change, no time is lost between prints and significantly higher net productivity can be achieved.
Océ VariaDot imaging technology for high quality and cost savings
All Océ Arizona Series printers include Océ VariaDot imaging technology for award-winning, high-quality output. Océ VariaDot technology does not require “light” colors to achieve high image quality and as a result uses significantly less ink – less than half that of many competitive systems.
Available options for all models
The Roll Media Option gives IPW members the ability to print onto flexible media including vinyl, self-adhesive vinyl, scrim banner, paper and blue backed paper without compromising the rigid printing workflow.
The White Ink Option enables under-printing for non-white media or objects, over-printing for backlit applications on transparent media and printing white as a spot color. Because the White Ink Option enables users to take advantage of these high-value, high-margin application opportunities, more than 90% of Océ Arizona printer purchasers have selected this important option for their printer since its introduction in 2008.
