New Mimaki sublimation inks yield substantial savings

Monday 16. July 2012 - Mimaki has announced the availability of new sublimation transfer inks for its dye sublimation printer range. The Mimaki Sb53 inks, which are packaged in 440ml and 2 litre containers, replace Mimaki Sb51 and SPC-0370 sublimation transfer inks, which have been discontinued. Mimaki will continue to offer its popular Sb52 sublimation inks alongside the new line.

Digital dye sublimation printing is increasingly used for producing retail point of sale, soft signage, fashion and sportswear and this has been an area of great strength for Mimaki over a number of years. With products ranging from 1m wide dye sub specific printer / cutters such as the TPC-1000 right up to the JV5-320DS 3.2m super wide machines that deliver a highly creative and environmentally friendly product, the technology’s popularity is understandable.
The Mimaki Sb53 sublimation transfer inks are high density inks that come in blue, magenta, yellow, black, light blue and light magenta. Duncan Jefferies, Marketing Manager at Mimaki’s exclusive UK & Irish distributor, Hybrid Services Ltd, says, “The new inks offer significant savings for our customers – resulting in a boost to profitability. The low vapour emission of these inks ensures a small environmental footprint and also contributes to a healthier working environment.”
The high density Sb53 inks produce brilliant colours and using the ISO 105 – B02 standard have a 3 or higher light fastness for blue. The inks’ low sedimentation rate also works to prevent uneven colour on printed output.
Mimaki Sb53 inks are available through Hybrid’s specialist reseller network and are compatible with a wide range of Mimaki printers, including the JV33, JV34, JV5, TS3, TS23, TS5 and TPC families. Compatible printers may require a firmware upgrade which can be acquired by contacting a Mimaki representative.
